The government of Punjab has officially announced summer vacations for schools across the province as temperatures continue to rise in different cities.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat shared the announcement through social media, confirming that school holidays will begin from May 22. According to the official schedule, schools will remain closed for summer break until August 24, when educational activities will resume.
The decision applies to both public and private schools across Punjab and comes as the province faces increasing heat levels. Education officials said the long summer break is aimed at protecting students, teachers, and school staff from extreme weather conditions.
Parents and students have largely welcomed the announcement, as the extended summer vacations will provide relief during the hottest months of the year. Officials have also advised schools to complete pending academic work before the school holidays begin.
With temperatures expected to rise further in the coming weeks, the government says student safety remains the top priority across all educational institutions in Punjab.
