SUPARCO Predicts Zil Hajj Moon Sighting in Pakistan, Eid ul Adha Likely on May 27

Pakistan’s space agency SUPARCO has released its latest prediction regarding the Zil Hajj moon sighting in Pakistan and the expected date of Eid ul Adha 2026.

According to SUPARCO, the new moon of Zil Hajj 1447 Hijri is expected to be born on May 17, 2026, at 1:01 AM Pakistan Standard Time. Based on astronomical calculations, the moon is expected to be around 18 hours and 30 minutes old by sunset on the same day, which improves the chances of visibility.

The space agency also said that in Pakistan’s coastal areas, the time difference between sunset and moonset is expected to be around 60 minutes. These conditions are being seen as favorable for the Zil Hajj moon sighting, especially if weather conditions remain clear and visibility near the horizon is good.

Based on these calculations, SUPARCO expects the first of Zil Hajj to fall on May 18, 2026. If the moon is sighted as expected, Eid ul Adha in Pakistan is likely to be observed on May 27, 2026.

However, officials have clarified that the final announcement regarding the Eid ul Adha moon sighting in Pakistan and the start of the Islamic month will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after receiving verified moon sighting reports from across the country.
